Container Desiccant

Application

Shipping container desiccants are essential for protecting cargo from moisture damage during transit. These moisture-absorbing bags prevent condensation inside shipping containers, also known as cargo sweat, container sweat, or container rain, which can create a moist environment that promotes the growth of mould, mildew, and corrosion, causing damage to the products inside. These desiccants absorb water vapour from the enclosed air, keeping the relative humidity level inside the container low, protecting the goods, and preventing container rain.

By reducing the dew point, they also prevent harmful effects of moisture damage, including mould and mildew growth. Compared to other desiccants, such as silica gel and activated clay, shipping container desiccants have a high moisture absorption capacity, absorbing up to 200% of their dry weight.  The container desiccant made from Tyvek material will hold and transform water vapour into a thick gel-like structure, preventing liquid spillage.

Container desiccants are available in bags containing non-toxic clay desiccant and calcium chloride, which can absorb up to 280% of water vapours. They are especially useful for transporting moisture-sensitive goods like coffee beans, canned foods, flour, and rice. These desiccants are available in bulk purchases and can be customised to meet specific needs. Using container desiccants, ensure that products arrive at their destination in excellent condition, free from moisture damage.

Description

The Absorb KingⅢ is a container desiccant designed and manufactured in China for easy installation inside shipping containers without a ladder. Its fixed structure and packaging design make it a convenient solution. With a maximum capacity for adsorbing water vapour reaching up to 200% of its weight, the desiccant container pole can help prevent condensation on container walls.

Shipping containers are often loaded in coastal areas where the air has high moisture levels. Moisture in containers condenses in colder areas, and as temperatures rise, humidity increases, leading to “container rain.” Mould and mildew growth can result, causing damage to cargo and financial losses.
