Shipping container desiccants are essential for protecting cargo from moisture damage during transit. These desiccants absorb water vapour from the enclosed air, keeping the relative humidity level inside the container low, protecting the goods, and preventing container rain.
By reducing the dew point, they also prevent harmful effects of moisture damage, including mould and mildew growth. Compared to other desiccants, such as silica gel and activated clay, shipping container desiccants have a high moisture absorption capacity, absorbing up to 200% of their dry weight. The container desiccant made from Tyvek material will hold and transform water vapour into a thick gel-like structure, preventing liquid spillage.
